Can I have an outdoor kitchen island without a grill?

Yes. The variant for a freestanding appliance has an open stone worktop. Use it to prep, to serve or as a bar, or set a pizza oven, a griddle or a bottle cooler on it.

Which Big Green Egg fits the island?

The kamado variant is designed for a Big Green Egg. We confirm the size with you during planning, and the cut-out in the worktop is made to fit it.

Can the island stand by the pool or near the coast?

Yes. Its cabinet is 5/16 in (8 mm) marine-grade aluminum, finished with Off-Shore powder coating with a chromate-free, nano-ceramic pre-treatment. The kitchen does not need to be covered. The same applies to the island. More on the material.

Can I combine the island with a FREILUFT Kitchen?

Yes. Island and kitchen share materials and colors, so they read as one design. A kitchen run with the grill-and-fire element plus an island with a Big Green Egg gives you two places to cook, one with wood and one with charcoal.

How do I care for the island?

Clean aluminum and the coating with mild soapy water, clean natural stone without acids, and lubricate the hinges twice a year. For small chips and scratches, use a touch-up paint pen, included with every original delivery.

What does the FREILUFT Island cost?

01 The island

A freestanding outdoor kitchen island

An outdoor kitchen island works where a kitchen run would close off the space: in the middle of a terrace, beside the pool or opposite a FREILUFT Kitchen as a second place to cook. The FREILUFT Island stands freely, so you can work, serve and talk from every side. Like the kitchen, it comes from the FREILUFT manufactory.

FREILUFT Island: 63 × 30 × 37 3/8 in (1600 × 760 × 950 mm), on wooden legs, with drawers on both sides. It is built from marine-grade aluminum cabinets, a Nero Assoluto natural stone worktop and solid oak shelves, in a color from the same collection as the kitchen.

02 Variants

Choose the variant for how you cook

The FREILUFT Island comes in three variants: for a freestanding appliance, for a kamado and for a built-in gas grill.

For a freestanding appliance: an open stone worktop for a pizza oven, a griddle, a compact kamado, a bottle cooler or a buffet. This is the outdoor kitchen island without a grill.
For a kamado: a Big Green Egg set into the worktop, with drawers beside it.
For a built-in gas grill: planned around a US-certified grill, with the worktop cut to fit it.

Every variant keeps the drawers on both sides, so the island stays easy to use from the kitchen and from the table.

03 Kamado

The island as a Big Green Egg table

This is an Island variant that holds a Big Green Egg kamado. The Egg is set into the stone worktop, so the island becomes a Big Green Egg table made to stay outside. Around the Egg there is room to prep, rest and serve, and the drawers keep tools and charcoal close.
