How much does an outdoor kitchen cost?

There is no price list for a kitchen that is made for one garden. This guide shows what decides the price and how you get a fixed quote.

01 The short answer

How much does an outdoor kitchen cost in South Florida?

How much does an outdoor kitchen cost? It depends on the kitchen you plan and the place it stands. A short run with a grill-and-fire element and a long L-shape with a sink, a refrigerator and gas are different projects, and a garden on the bay asks for different preparation than a courtyard in town.

That is why we do not publish prices. Every FREILUFT kitchen is made to order in the FREILUFT Manufaktur in Nordwalde, Germany, and after a site visit you receive a design and a fixed quote within 10 business days of the site visit. We plan these kitchens in South Florida, and Florida-licensed contractors install them. If you are comparing offers, our guide to outdoor kitchen brands shows what to ask.

02 What decides the price

Five things decide the price

Size and layout

The system is built from cabinet runs up to 126 1/4 in (3208 mm) long, built from cabinets 7 7/8, 23 5/8, 31 1/2 and 39 3/8 in (200, 600, 800 and 1000 mm) wide. How many modules you choose, and whether the kitchen is a straight run, an L-shape or an island, sets the scale of the project.

Fire and appliances

At the center is a grill-and-fire element built from stainless steel, cast iron and firebrick. Cabinets, fronts, worktops, storage and the grill-and-fire element come from Germany; built-in gas and electric appliances are US-certified appliances sourced in the United States. Every appliance you add, from a gas grill to a refrigerator, adds to the plan.

Materials and finishes

Fronts come in standard colors in fine texture, with nearly all RAL colors available on request, and counters in natural stone worktops in Nero Assoluto, Anthracite Black, Taj Mahal and Calacatta Brazil. Stone, color and details such as oak shelves change the price.

Gas, power and water

Lighting, outlets and built-in electrical appliances run through an electrical module in the cabinet. The positions of outlets and switches are set when the kitchen is ordered. Gas, water and power lines to the kitchen are planned with licensed partners and depend on how far the kitchen stands from the house.

The site and the permits

The kitchen needs a firm, weather-resistant, non-combustible base; gravel is not suitable. Under the Florida Building Code, a permit from the building official is needed before a structure is built or altered and before electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing systems are installed or altered. Flood zones, setbacks and the review of your city or community can add steps.

03 Your quote

From the first call to the first fire

The price is fixed before anything is made. These are the steps from your request to the first fire.

  1. First call

We start with a 20 to 30 minute call or video consultation about your home, your garden and your plans.

  2. Site visit

We look at the place, the base, the connections and the rules that apply to your address.

  3. Design and quote

You receive a design and a fixed quote within 10 business days of the site visit.

  4. Approval

Production starts once the layout drawing is approved; after that the layout can no longer be changed.

  5. Made to order

Your kitchen is made to order in the FREILUFT Manufaktur in Nordwalde, Germany, with updates with photos from the manufactory while your kitchen is being made.

  6. Installation and handover

We deliver the kitchen, set and level the cabinet modules and place the stone worktops. Foundations, anchoring and the gas, electrical and plumbing connections are made by Florida-licensed contractors engaged by you or your builder, who also apply for the permits. The handover includes the first fire together, an introduction to use and care, a care set, the warranty documents and the registration of your appliances.

04 Over the years

What the kitchen asks of you later

The price of a kitchen is also what it needs over the years. A FREILUFT kitchen is built to stay outside year-round. The kitchen does not need to be covered.

Clean aluminum and the coating with mild soapy water, clean natural stone without acids, and lubricate the hinges twice a year. We also offer a care check before the hurricane season in May and before the main outdoor season in November and a service visit within 10 business days of your request. Built-in appliances carry the warranty of their manufacturer, shown separately from the warranty by Ensch Outdoor Living LLC.
